💭 What is a Purple People Eater?
You know the song: "...It was a one-eyed, one-horned, flyin' purple people eater..."
Did you know that the song actually establishes that the monster eats purple people, not that the monster is purple? Now you know!
The Purple People Eater Cocktail is essentially a blueberry gin fizz... with purple gin.
📝 Ingredients
This drink only requires THREE ingredients! See the recipe card for full information on ingredients and quantities.
- Lemon juice: Freshly squeezed, please!
- Blueberry simple syrup: Blueberry simple syrup adds sweet blueberry flavor and more purple color to your drink.
- Purple gin: Purple gin gets its purple hue from butterfly pea flowers. Empress is a well-known brand, but I used gin from Conniption in Durham, NC. Not an ad. I just used to live in Durham and like their gin.
🔀 Substitutions or Variations
- Use clear gin instead of purple. Don't have purple gin? You can use a clear one. The purple color of the cocktail may just not be as pronounced.
