Old Bay is life
Truer words were never said. Don't @ me.
I think I've talked about it on here before, but prior to living in Baltimore, I didn't understand just how amazing this spice blend was. After spending 6 years there, though, I am a full convert to the Church of Old Bay.
It's great on seafood of all kinds, obviously. But also really good on basically all fried foods, roasted potatoes, and even to rim a can or glass of cold cold National Bohemian beer. (Pro tip: It's called a Dirty Boh)
AND NOW, with these spicy candied pecans, we've established that Old bay is fabulous with sweet foods, too. What can't it do?
And no, this isn't an ad. I just love Old Bay. But Old bay, get at me, because I'd love to work with you.
What ingredients go into these candied nuts?
Here's one of the best things about this recipe: it only requires 3 ingredients!
- Pecans - I used pecan halves, but you can feel free to use other nuts instead or in addition! Walnuts and cashews would be really good here, too.
- Maple syrup - Please. I beg of you. Use real maple syrup here. The good stuff. You will be rewarded.
- Old Bay - Yes. You read that right. Old Bay seasoning. Trust me! It really works with maple syrup. The spicy-sweet combination is *chef's kiss* so good.
And that's it! Just 3 little ingredients.
How do these spicy candied pecans come together?
Recipes don't get much easier than this. Truly.
All you need to do is place your pecan halves, maple syrup, and Old Bay in a large bowl. Next, toss everything around with a spatula until the nuts are evenly coated.
Last, spread the pecans onto a baking sheet in an even layer and bake for only 15-20 minutes. Then you're done!

Do I need any special gear to make these candied pecans?
- Real maple syrup is a must!
- Old Bay, for sure
- A baking sheet
- Silicone spatulas work really well for tossing the sticky pecans around (I have so many of these spatulas and love them)

Oh my, sounds so good! Do you think this would work with walnuts? That's all I have, and plenty, raw halves. I have everything else! Will be doing these in my air fryer. Thank you!

Hi Catherine! Yes, this will work out nicely with walnuts, too. Let me know how it goes doing them in the air fryer!
