I’m sure that many of you have had, or at least heard of, a drink called a Shandy. A Shandy is one part lemonade, one part wheat beer. They are really refreshing and delicious. Leinenkugel’s makes a good one.
I recently became acquainted with the Shandy’s German cousin: The Radler. Radlers are one part lemon or lemon/lime soda and one part wheat beer. Not completely exotic, but different enough to keep things interesting.
“But, this is summery drink!”, you say? Perhaps. It would be great sipped on a hot, humid day. However, with the blizzard that moved up the east coast this week (even though the Baltimore-area didn’t get much snow), I thought we could all use a little glass of summer. You know, for the sake of our sanity.
- 1 part lemon or lemon/lime soda (I used San Pellegrino Limonata), cold
- 1 part wheat beer (I used Allagash White), cold
Add the soda to your glass and top with cold beer. Serve with lemon slices, and enjoy!
