These Poinsettia Cocktails are as tasty as they are beautiful. You’re only three ingredients away from having one ready to go!
What’s in a name? Would a cocktail by any other name taste as sweet?
I’ve seen this cocktail go by a number of names: Poinsettia Cocktails, Poinsettia Drinks, Cranberry Mimosas, and even Christmas Mimosas! So, if you run across drinks by any of these names, they’re talking about the same thing. Feel free to call them whatever floats your boat, though.
I’m calling them Poinsettia Cocktails. It’s a fun, festive name that comes from the gorgeous red poinsettia plants that you see everywhere during the Winter holidays.
What ingredients go into this drink?
Only three! Well, four, if you include the garnish. To make this, you’ll need:
- Triple sec: Or some other kind of orange liqueur. Don’t feel the need to get too fancy or expensive here, though. The cheaper stuff works just fine.
- Cranberry juice: Depending on what your preferences are regarding sweetness, you can use cranberry juice cocktail (sweeter) or pure cranberry juice (less sweet).
- Bubbly: Here, too, you can opt to go with something more expensive if you so desire, or cheap out a bit (this is what I do). You can also use something sweeter or more dry, according to your preference. Typically, I will use a cheaper moscato or prosecco.
- Fresh cranberries: This is optional, but I think it really adds something to these cocktails. I mean, just take a look! It makes them look festive AF.
How does this drink come together?
Honestly, it couldn’t be easier.
Start by pouring the triple sec and cranberry juice into a champagne flute. Pop a bottle a bottle and top everything off with some bubbly. Ta da! You’ve just whipped up one seriously delicious drink.
Drop a few fresh cranberries into the champagne flute if you’re feeling fancy. I know that you are. You deserve to be fancy.
Can you batch this cocktail?
I am inclined to say no, unfortunately. If you scaled the recipe up and poured all of the ingredients into a pitcher or some other vessel, you would run the risk of the bubbly losing its carbonation. Especially if you’re trying to make this ahead of time and it sits around for a bit. And we do not want that to happen.
HOWEVER, if you want to have some of this drink ready and assembled for a group ahead of time, you could have the triple sec and cranberry juice already poured into your champagne flutes, ready and waiting to be topped off with bubbly.

- 1/2 oz triple sec or other orange liqueur
- 3 oz cranberry juice (see notes)
- 3 oz bubbly (see notes)
- fresh cranberries, for garnish (optional)
- Add the triple sec and cranberry juice to a champagne flute.
- Top with the bubbly of your choice.
- Garnish with fresh cranberries, if desired.
- You can use either cranberry juice cocktail or pure cranberry juice. Keep in mind that the former will result in a sweeter drink, while the latter will result in something a bit more tart.
- You can use whatever bubbly booze you prefer, too. Go with an actual champagne if you have the inclination, or you can use something more affordable like moscato or prosecco (what I usually use).
