Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 bunch fresh mint

Instructions

  • Combine the water and sugar in a heavy bottomed saucepan over medium heat. Bring the mixture to a simmer, stirring occasionally, until the sugar has dissolved into the water completely.
  • Turn off the heat and add the fresh mint to the syrup.
  • Allow the syrup to cool completely before straining out the mint and storing the syrup in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

Notes

  • You can extend the shelf life of this simple syrup a bit by adding about half an ounce of plain vodka to the syrup after it has cooled
