Let’s talk pizza, people. I wasn’t originally going to blog about these pizzas, but I posted the Taco Pizza on Instagram and Facebook and got some pretty positive feedback about it.
So, the one on the left is Taco Pizza, and the one on the right has roasted garlic, roasted shrimp, tomatoes, basil, and mozzarella. I also made one once that used up some left over spicy pulled pork over a base of BBQ sauce, all topped with sharp cheddar cheese.
Now, you can feel free to use homemade or store-bought pizza dough, if you’d like. I went the super lazy route and picked up a pre-made crust at the grocery store. It’s gonna be really good, no matter what you do.
The great thing about homemade pizza is you can do whatever you want. Just go crazy with it. To give you an idea of what I did for the taco version…
Taco Pizza – You’ll need:
- pizza crust
- pizza sauce
- salsa
- ground turkey (or beef or whatever)
- taco seasoning
- water
- cheddar cheese
Cook ground meat on the stove top. According to the package directions, add the taco seasoning and water. Cook until thickened. Set aside.
Mix pizza sauce and salsa in whatever combination tastes good to you. Spread it on the pizza crust/dough.
Top the sauce with the taco meat, followed by cheddar cheese.
Bake until golden, bubbly, and perfect.
But seriously, go nuts with it. Want chicken instead of turkey? Do it. Prefer a garlic-based sauce on a white pizza? Yes. You get the idea.
Do you ever make your own pizzas? What is your favorite way to prepare them?
